filming diary

September 23rd Saturday- I started filming the start of my music video, with me walking through my local woods. I had my Mum film me lip syncing to the song. This included the action cuts of me walking through the gate, and the transition shots between the lip syncing, such as the close up of my shoes as I am walking, and the pans of the forest.

September 24th Sunday- We finished filming the scenes of me in the park. This involved the shot of me sitting on the playground swing, and me walking through the park lip syncing.

September 30th Saturday- I Decided to change a section of my music video, as originally the part of my music video that said "staring at the television screen" was just me lip syncing in the woods, but I decided to change it by recording me lip syncing on an actual television screen. I achieved this by recording myself lip syncing and putting it on YouTube, and then recording the YouTube video on my TV. Additionally, I had borrowed my friend's acoustic guitar, and I did an upwards pan of it leaning against my bedroom door, as a transition between verses.

October 1st Sunday- Today I saw next door's cat in the garden, and decided to include in into the music video with an extreme close up zoom, which I later sped up in I-Movie. This is fairly abstract and therefore would fit into the indie rock genre of music videos, and show that the Indie artist isn't taking themselves too seriously.

October 3rd Tuesday- Today I decided to another scene of my music video. I wanted the pacing of the video to be very fast paced, and so I recorded the swing when it was pushed, so when I edited it later in IMovie, it made the swing move in time with sound of the guitar, and even though the section took up about 0.5 seconds, it made the part seem more fast paced, compared to the previous scene which was just me walking.

October 8th Sunday- Today, I was recorded strumming the guitar in my back garden, in time to a guitar rift in Teddy Picker. Obviously I had no idea how to play a guitar, but when I edited it to the song it appeared to look good. we also recorded the guitar solo section, in my living room.

October 9th Monday- I finished the last of the guitar sections, with the part with me behind the wall in my back garden.

October 21st Saturday- The part of the song where I "take an oath" was recorded, with a printout I made with Microsoft Word. I also bought a can of Coke to include an example of product placement, which I put in an extreme closeup.

November 19th Sunday On this day, we went to Southend On Sea, to record in the amusements there, to parody the name of the song "Teddy Picker." This came during the guitar section, and was probably the most time consuming part of the filming, taking around 2 hours to finish. This included recordings of the sea, and during this section I cut to performance parts I had filmed earlier, as well as the sped up shots of the drive along the Seafront.

December 2nd There were a few parts of the music video which still needed completing, like a few examples of lip syncing, which I finished.
