analysis of music video- "when the sun goes down"

lyrics- We are being taken through the song through the perspective of the singer, Alex turner. at the start of the song he observes a girl who is a prostitute , he seems to feel bad for her "So who's the girl there? I wonder what went wrong so that she had to roam the streets?" , but then observes a "scummy man" going to pick her up, showing his distaste for the man, taking advantage of her. "just give him half a chance I bet he'd rob you if you can" shows that this is a dangerous man that shouldn't be trusted, presumably a known criminal, showing that the girl is vulnerable being around him. The song could also be seen as an attack on Sheffield's stance on red light districts, which is where the members of the band were born, and at no point in the song was it looked at in a remotely positive way.. "can see it in his eyes yeah, that hes got a nasty plan amongst some other offences" once again showing the singers distaste for the man, that he has a dodgy look about him.
The song title "sun goes down" suggests that the city changes when it gets to night time, and that during the day the city is more innocent, disguising it's red light district.

When the slow part of the song comes to an end, and the classic guitar rift of the arctic monkeys begin the action on the screen starts to speed up, with the car racing through busy traffic in Sheffield. this is an example of the tempo of the song reflected in the cinematography, thus amplifying the effect of the guitar. When The Sun Goes Down is an example of alternative/indie, and this. The sound of the guitar in the background is fast paced, meaning that the pace of the cuts are also gonna reflect the fast pace of the rhythm, and reflect the pace of most of the Favourite worst Nightmare album.
