Video Level 4  The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills: • shooting material appropriate to the task set; including controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes and close attention to mise en scene • editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of shot transitions, captions and other effects • recording and editing sound with images appropriately. Where a candidate has worked in a group, an excellent contribution to construction is evident. I'm actually blown away but what I've just seen! There are some issues- the guitar solo with the acoustic guitar in your lounge was a strange choice but there are actually some really lovely bits in that video especially some of the sections in Southend with the silhouettes etc. There is good timing with the edits and the video has dynamism throughout. 35/40 Digipak Digipak photogra...

merchandise makes up a large amount of the revenue that artistes make. This is mainly due to the fact that sales of actual music had decreased, due to the fact that consumers can now get access to songs for free, through watching videos on YouTube, and streaming for free on spotify, so the money received from sales of songs have declined. This has increased the focus on tours and merchandise. For example, One Direction had lots of merchandise that fans would pay for, often north of £40 for a hoodie with a One Direction logo on it, and if a fan gets all the items, it can cost north of £200. This is especially important with fan bases, like that of One Direction, which had impressionable fan bases who would get their parents to buy the merchandise for them. This essentially boils down down to the fans of the artistes  paying to advertise on their behalf, as when a band like One Direction released a hoodie with a One direction logo, the millions of fans who bought the merchandis...

Codes and conventions of your chosen genre. We were able to chose our own songs to make a music video for, I have chosen to do  the song “Teddy picker” by the arctic Monkeys, from their first album, Favourite Worst Nightmare in 2007. The music video on youtube has 41 million views,  which  one of their more popular releases. I have chosen this song mainly because it is one of my favourite songs, and I feel it is best to have chosen a song which I enjoy, as I’m going to be working with it for months to come. I feel it has a proportionate mix of singing and instrumental, which would allow me to differentiate between narrative and performance shots.  This music is an example of indie rock, which is upbeat and generally makes you feel good, and the guitar riffs generally give the song its character, giving them a good structure, these sorts of musical sections are conventions of alternative indie songs.
